The Denver Nuggets pulled off a stunning comeback, erasing a 23-point deficit to squeak past the Atlanta Hawks, 134-133, in a rollercoaster showdown, Saturday morning (PH time).
The victory extends Denver’s winning streak to two games while handing Atlanta its third straight loss.
The Hawks dominated early, jumping to a 41-23 first-quarter lead and building a 23-point cushion behind a masterful performance from Jalen Johnson, who recorded a triple-double by halftime. Atlanta seemed in control, but the second half belonged entirely to Nikola Jokić.
After a slow start, Jokić erupted for 19 points in the third quarter alone, cutting the Nuggets’ deficit to single digits. Denver then unleashed a decisive 20-0 run in the fourth, with Jokić adding 11 points in the final 3 minutes and 36 seconds to secure the nail-biting win.
Jokić finished with 40 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, cementing his heroics. Jamal Murray also chipped in a double-double with 23 points and 12 assists.
For the Hawks, Alexander Walker led the scoring with 30 points, while Johnson finished with 21 points, 18 rebounds, and 16 assists, and Kristaps Porziņģis added 25 points.
Next up, the Nuggets host the Charlotte Hornets on December 8, while the Hawks face a back-to-back challenge against the Washington Wizards.
