MARK Barroca allayed fears of a serious injury after limping off in Magnolia’s 83-80 win over Phoenix in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
In the final defensive possession of the game for the Hotshots, Barroca got entangled with the Fuel Masters’ Jason Perkins in a scramble for a loose ball, with his teammate Rome dela Rosa and Kenneth Tuffin also falling right beside him.
The veteran guard said he felt someone land on his foot on that play, resulting in a sprained ankle for him as he had to be carried off the floor after the final buzzer.
While there’s a slight swelling on his foot post game, Barroca looked comfortable enough to walk on his own, sharing that it’s nothing serious, confident that he can play in their next game.
The good news is that they won’t be playing up until next week, when they tackle San Miguel on Friday at the same venue.
“Mild lang naman. Rest lang. At least may one week kami para makarecover,” Barroca said.
“Ice lang naman yan pag natapilok. Ice lang yan.”
