Capital1 displayed total team effort to sweep Cignal, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21, and stay in the hunt for a top-three finish in Pool A in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Friday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Import Sasha Bytsenko led the balanced attack, nailing 22 kills for 23 points on top of a solid floor defense with 12 excellent receptions for the Solar Spikers, who improved to 2-2 and gained a chance to finish third when they battle Choco Mucho on November 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Top overall pick Bella Belen also shone, delivering 11 points and 14 digs while her Alas Pilipinas teammate, Leila Cruz, chipped in eight points. Iris Tolenada tossed 16 excellent sets on top of four points, while libero Roma Mae Doromal had 15 digs and 14 receptions.

“The guys are doing really good. I think we are really committed to serving hard and getting the chances in transition,” Capital1 coach Jorge De Brito said.
“I'm very happy and very proud of them because we work as a team. Since the first point, we knew we had a plan and we followed. And even if we had to make some changes, we did.”
Belen was also proud of their teamwork that led to the much-needed win.
“We supported each other not only through scoring points but also in other skills and areas. I’m just really happy because all the hard work we put in over the past 10 days has finally paid off,” she said.
Cignal finished Pool A with a 2-3 record, facing ZUS Coffee, Creamline, and either Akari or Petro Gazz in another round robin.
Katrin Trebichavska was the lone double-digit scorer for Super Spikers with 22 points while Erika Santos was held to nine points following a string of solid performances. Rose Doria Aquino added eight for Cignal, which drew only two points from Vanie Gandler in limited action.
