Alex Eala secured her first-ever match win at Wimbledon on Wednesday (PH time), defeating Renata Zarazua 6-1, 6-2 in their first-round clash on Court 12.
The No. 29 seed stamped her class in this contest, needing just one hour and 17 minutes to record the historic straight-sets victory.
Eala pulled away after Zarazua tied the first set at 1-1, winning 11 of the next 13 games to book her place in the Round of 64.
Eala won 82% of her first serve points and converted 4 of 17 break point opportunities. She also recorded 22 winners against her Mexican opponent.
The Filipina tennis star will next face the winner of the first-round showdown between seven-time Wimbledon singles champion Serena Williams and Maya Joint.
