Alas Pilipinas continued to dominate Uzbekistan in their opening group match at the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup, with the hosts taking the second set 25-12 on Saturday at Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
The Philippines sustained the momentum after winning the first set, 25-16, racing to a 4-0 lead in Set 2. They extended their advantage to 16-7, with veteran team captain Alyssa Valdez and talented youngster Niña Ytang powering the locals’ attack, much to the delight of the Pinoy fans in attendance.
Alas never looked back after that as they grabbed a commanding two-set lead over Uzbekistan in their opening group assignment in the 10-day tournament.
