Game 5 between Rain or Shine and Barangay Ginebra shapes up as the pivotal matchup of their best-of-seven semifinal series in the PBA 50 Commissioner’s Cup.
The matchup will be the main course of the PBA Friday playdate at 7:30pm. Rain or Shine regained momentum with a convincing 97-85 win in Game 4 last Wednesday, proving they can match Ginebra’s depth and physicality.
Coach Yeng Guiao continues to rely on a balanced attack led by import Jaylen Johnson together with scorers Adrian Nocum, Jhonard Clarito, Andrei Caracut, Caelan Tiongson, and Gian Mamuyac.
Supporting players like Mike Malonzo and Leonard Santillan will also be crucial in Rain or Shine's transition offense.
Ginebra, however, still holds a major edge in experience and star power. The Gin Kings are anchored by naturalized star Justin Brownlee along with fellow Gilas Pilipinas standouts Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, and Troy Rosario.
With the series tightening up, Game 5 could determine who gains full control heading into the final stretch of the semifinals.
