Team Pacquiao has refuted the claims of Floyd Mayweather that his upcoming fight against Manny Pacquiao is merely just an exhibition.
Having talked to MP Promotions CEO Jas Mathur, veteran boxing journalist Mike Coppinger reported that the boxing executive insisted that the two boxing greats are contracted to fight in an official match.
Mathur, according to Coppinger, also added that Pacquiao isn’t interested in exhibition and it appeared to be true based on the initial announcement from streaming giant Netflix, which will broadcast the bout.
Pacquiao was even quoted to be excited at the chance of finally putting the first blemish on Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 record after losing in their first fight.
Mayweather said last week that the fight is only an exhibition with the venue still to be determined, contrary to the announcement which stated that the match will be held at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
The American champion, however, has also first announced that he is coming out of retirement although reportedly set to figure in an exhibition against Mike Tyson and Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, is still in talks for the potential exhibition against Ruslan Provodnikov. It was earlier announced that the two would share the ring on April 18.
