James stepped up in Luka Doncic’s absence, finishing the game with 28 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. He entered the record books with that performance, becoming the oldest NBA player in NBA history to record a triple-double. He shot 10-for-20 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line.

The Mavs kept the game close in the first half despite missing the services of star player Cooper Flagg, trailing 63-64 heading into the break. The Lakers took control in the third quarter, though, outscoring the Mavs 32-19 to build a 14-point advantage entering the final period.
