The long wait is finally over. The main draw of the 2026 Philippine Women’s Open gets underway on Monday, with Alex Eala set to take center stage at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
It isn’t just Eala, though, who will fly the Philippine flag high in the WTA 125 event as other Filipinas will also be seeing action in this tennis tournament. Here’s a look at the schedule of their matches on January 26.
Center Court
Tennielle Madis will be the first Filipina to play on Center Court on Monday, with her showdown against Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew the third match in the order of play. Action on Center Court will start at 2 p.m., with Madis’ match estimated to begin at around 4:30 p.m.
Alex Eala will begin her campaign on Center Court no earlier than 7 p.m., with her round of 32 match against Alina Charaeva the main event of Day 1.
Court 1
Elizabeth Abarquez will open proceedings on Court 1, with the Filipina facing off against Japan’s Mai Hontama in the round of 32 at 2 p.m.
A doubles showdown will follow Abarquez’s singles clash, with the Filipina pair of Kaye Ann Emana and Justine Hannah Maneja squaring off against Argentina’s Nicole Fossa Huergo and Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja in the round of 16.
Another Filipina pair will see action after Emana and Maneja’s match, with hometown duo Angeline Alcala and Joana Victoria Pena taking on Sara Saito and Li Yu-yun in the women’s doubles round of 16.
