According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the long-running partnership between LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers may be approaching its conclusion.
Speaking on an ESPN program, Charania indicated that the league is witnessing what appears to be the final chapter of James’ tenure with the Lakers. He suggested that the relationship could end either with James retiring at the conclusion of the season or opting to continue his career elsewhere in free agency.
Despite being 42 years old, James has remained productive this season, averaging 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game. The Lakers currently sit at 26–17, placing sixth in the Western Conference.
Los Angeles is coming off a 112–104 loss to the LA Clippers, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the team’s trajectory as questions about James’ future continue to surface.
