Alex Eala and Iva Jovic will resume their women’s doubles campaign when they take on unseeded pair Jesika Maleckova and Renata Zarazua in the quarterfinals of the 2026 ASB Classic in a yet-to-be-determined date at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

Eala and Jovic booked their place in the quarters after beating tennis legend Venus Williams and Elina Svitolina 7-6 (7), 6-1 in the round of 16 on Monday. Jovic and Eala, who are seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the women’s singles event, reminded everybody why they are two of the WTA Tour’s brightest young stars.

They held their composure in a tight first set, winning the tiebreak 9-7 after taking the final two points. The match swung in Eala and Jovic’s favor after an epic rally at 7-7, with the Filipina tennis star grabbing the point with a winner down the middle.

Eala and Jovic sustained the momentum with a dominant performance in the second set, converting three of their six break-point opportunities to complete the straight-sets victory.

Next up for Eala and Jovic is a quarterfinal meeting with Maleckova and Zarazua, who recorded a shock victory over the top-seeded duo of Asia Muhammad and Erin Routliffe on Tuesday. Maleckova and Zarazua battled back from a set down to pull off the 3-6, 6-2, 12-10 victory.
