Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young and his representation are now actively working with the franchise to facilitate a trade, according to a report from Shams Charania.

Shams posted on X:
“All-Star Trae Young and his agents, Aaron Mintz, Drew Morrison and Austin Brown, are working with the franchise on a trade, sources tell ESPN. Young's reps and the Hawks have started collaborative talks over the last week on finding a resolution.”

Soon after, another famous basketball reporter Marc Stein added further context:
“The Wizards have emerged as a legitimate potential trade destination for Atlanta's Trae Young, in a deal construction centered around CJ McCollum's expiring contract.”

Young currently has two years remaining on his contract, earning approximately $46 million this season and holding a player option worth around $48.97 million for the 2026–27 season. So far this year, he has appeared in 10 games, averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per contest.

Meanwhile, 34-year-old guard CJ McCollum is averaging 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this season for the Washington Wizards.

It's good that the Wizards got Trae Young. Anyway, they've been bad for so long, and there's only a year and a half left on his big contract. What if there's a surprise?

Trae Young is not easy to trade. His contract is too large, his abilities are limited, his defense is too poor, and currently he is a negative asset!
