Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young and his representation are now actively working with the franchise to facilitate a trade, according to a report from Shams Charania.
Shams posted on X:
“All-Star Trae Young and his agents, Aaron Mintz, Drew Morrison and Austin Brown, are working with the franchise on a trade, sources tell ESPN. Young's reps and the Hawks have started collaborative talks over the last week on finding a resolution.”
Soon after,another famous basketball reporter Marc Stein added further context:
“The Wizards have emerged as a legitimate potential trade destination for Atlanta's Trae Young, in a deal construction centered around CJ McCollum's expiring contract.”
Young currently has two years remaining on his contract, earning approximately $46 million this season and holding a player option worth around $48.97 million for the 2026–27 season. So far this year, he has appeared in 10 games, averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per contest.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old guard CJ McCollum is averaging 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this season for the Washington Wizards.
