Houston Rockets center Alperen Şengün suffered an ankle injury in just 64 seconds into the game.
During Rockets' road game against the Dallas Mavericks, Şengün stepped on Mavericks center Daniel Gafford's foot and twisted his ankle. Play was stopped, and Şengün walked to the locker room under his own power for further evaluation.
Prior to the injury, Şengün had only recorded one rebound. This season, he has been enjoying a career-best campaign, averaging 22.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game—all personal highs in scoring and assists.
The injury comes as a significant blow to the Rockets' frontcourt, as backup center Steven Adams is already sidelined with an ankle injury sustained earlier this season against the Indiana Pacers.
