And then there were four. The cast is finally complete for the semifinal round of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup after Barangay Ginebra defeated Converge in dramatic fashion in overtime last Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings will next face defending champion San Miguel in the semis, while TNT Tropang 5G will lock horns with sister team Meralco in the other matchup.
Here’s a look at the upcoming semifinal schedule of this year’s Philippine Cup as the four PBA teams prepare for their respective best-of-seven series.
PBA 50 Philippine Cup Semis Schedule
Game 1
The semifinal round will start this coming Sunday, January 4, at the Araneta Coliseum. The first game will feature the clash between TNT and Meralco, with their showdown set to take place at 5:15 p.m. Barangay Ginebra and San Miguel will then battle each other in the second game, with the matchup set to start at 7:30 p.m.
Game 2
Araneta Coliseum will also be the venue for Game 2 of the semifinals, with the games set to take place on Wednesday, January 7. Ginebra and San Miguel will open proceedings with their matchup at 5:15 p.m. before TNT and Meralco resume their series at 7:30 p.m.
Game 3
There will be no change in venue for Game 3 of the semis as the Araneta Coliseum will play host to the two playoff games on Friday, January 9. The Tropang 5G and the Bolts will square off at 5:15 p.m., while the Kings and the Beermen resume their best-of-seven showdown at 7:30 p.m.
Game 4
The PBA will switch venues for Game 4 of the PBA 50 Philippine Cup semis, with the SM Mall of Asia Arena hosting the two blockbuster matchups on Sunday, January 11. SMB and Ginebra will kick things off at 5:15 p.m. before TNT and Meralco renew their rivalry in the second game at 7:30 p.m.
Games 5-7 (if necessary)
In case a team fails to record a sweep in the semis, the best-of-seven series will be extended to at least a Game 5, with Games 6 and 7 also deemed to be possibilities. These are expected to take place on January 14 (Game 5) at the Araneta Coliseum, January 16 (Game 6) at the Ynares Center, Antipolo, and January 18 (Game 7) back at the big dome.
