Following a year of unprecedented success on the international stage, Filipina Muay Thai phenom Islay Erika Bomogao has officially become the fighter to beat in the strawweight division.

The 25-year-old’s rapid ascent has caught the attention of Thai rising star Duangdawnoi Looksaikongdin, who recently expressed a strong desire to test her skills against the Igorot warrior. Duangdawnoi, the sister-in-law of Muay Thai legend Rodtang Jitmuangnon, made the statement following her second consecutive victory in ONE Championship.

The interest in a Bomogao-Duangdawnoi clash comes on the heels of a dominant 2025 campaign for the Baguio City native. The Pinay rising star has quickly become one of the most feared strikers in the promotion, moving to a perfect 4-0 record in ONE Friday Fights.

Beyond the professional ranks, Bomogao’s popularity reached new heights last month at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok. Competing in the women's under-45kg division, she captured the gold medal by defeating Thailand’s own Arissara Noon-Eiad.

The potential matchup with Duangdawnoi carries an extra layer of intrigue due to recent regional tensions. Bomogao’s gold medal win in December was met with a formal protest from the Thai Olympic Committee, following her victory over home favorite Mongkutpetch Petchprawfar.

For her part, Duangdawnoi declined to comment on the SEA Games officiating, choosing instead to focus on the competitive merits of a professional showdown.

"For me, I’m happy to fight her if I have the opportunity," Duangdawnoi said. "I think it’s going to be fun. I would like to fight her."

While the Thai challenger is eager for the bout, the decision ultimately rests with ONE Championship promoters.

As 2026 begins, the Muay Thai world is watching closely to see if the "Slay Queen" will grant Duangdawnoi’s request or continue her march toward a ONE World Title.
