The New York Knicks snapped back into the win column, fending off the Miami Heat 132-125 in their NBA Eastern Conference clash on Monday morning (PH time) at Madison Square Garden.
Jalen Brunson delivered a career night at MSG, pouring in 47 points to go with 8 assists as New York maintained a slim edge for most of the contest.
The Knicks appeared to gain breathing room after Josh Hart drilled a bailout three late in the shot clock to push the lead to 117-106.
Miami, however, refused to go out quietly. Kel'el Ware knocked down a clutch triple before Jamie Jaquez Jr. converted two free throws to cut the deficit to 120-118 with 3:12 remaining.
Hart answered with a driving layup, then Mikal Bridges buried a corner three to restore a seven-point cushion late. The Heat had one last chance, but Jaquez missed two critical free throws in the final moments, sealing the Knicks' victory.
New York improved to 20-8 as they head to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. Miami dropped to 15-14 and will host the Toronto Raptors on the same day.
