Filipino actor and politician Richard Gomez captured a silver medal in the sporting clay team event at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games last Sunday in Thailand.
Gomez, who serves as congressman for Ormoc City, Leyte, led a quartet of fellow Ormoc natives Carlo Baltonado, Joaquin Ancheta, and Eduardo Rivilla, in the competition.

“We dedicate this medal to all Ormocanons who continue to support and carry us with pride, and to our fellow Filipinos. May we continue to achieve success in sports and reach even greater heights together,” Gomez said.
According to the National Sporting Clays Association, sporting clays is a field shooting discipline in shotgun sports designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, and other upland birds.

Meanwhile, his daughter Juliana Gomez is competing in the women’s foil event in fencing.
